Sacrifice is Hard

Look for what makes one right with God.
Verily I say unto you, all among them who know their hearts are honest, and are broken, and their spirits contrite, and are willing to observe their covenants by sacrifice—yea, every sacrifice which I, the Lord, shall command—they are accepted of me.
Doctrine & Covenants 97:8

Do you follow the Lord, even when that involves sacrifice? That is where many draw the line. Sure, they want to love and follow God when there is no cost, when there is no sacrifice.  But as soon as following the Lord means personal sacrifice, they wonder if it is worth it. To know God and all that He offers is worth it.  It has been said that, “Sacrifice is giving up something good for something better” (author unknown).  And the Lord offers us that which is so much better, in exchange for our sacrifices in this life. Joseph Smith taught that, “A religion that does not require the sacrifice of all things never has the power sufficient to produce the faith necessary unto life and salvation.” (Lectures on Faith, 6:7)

Today’s Takeaway: What is God asking you to sacrifice upon His Holy Alter?  Give it.  Afterwards you will look back and see it was no sacrifice at all, in comparison to what God has given you.
